During the week you train relentlessly on desolate service roads, and on the weekend it's all business at the local XC series or overnighter 12 hour battle. Maybe racing hasn't quite paid the bills yet, but that's doesn't mean you're any less dedicated or talented, which is why you deserve a proven rig from a proven name to be there for you along the way. Enter the Niner Air 9 Carbon. Niner has proven year after year that they've got the 29er hardtail geometry down to a science, which they've demonstrated yet again with the new Air 9 Carbon. Though it may not use Niner's elite RDO (race day optimized) carbon, it borrows the mold and several other features previously only seen on the Air 9 RDO frame. The Air 9 Carbon sees no shortage of highly detailed features including thinner tube profiles, smaller junctions, carbon molded headset races, a low profile disc brake mount, and a PF30 carbon bottom bracket shell. Niner continues to use tapered headtubes on all their new frames in order to maintain a stiffer front end which drastically improves the handling and control. This model also continues to use a 12 x 142 rear hub spacing, allowing a thru axle to be used as an added measure of increasing the overall stiffness of the ride while shedding roughly 50 grams. Additionally, it awesomely features 2.4"" tire clearance versus its previous 2.35"" clearance, as well as a lighter head badge that sheds valuable grams without expensing the Niner charm (don't be ashamed of being a weight weenie) . Outfitting the Niner AIR 9 Jenson 1x11-speed bike is a hand-picked set of SRAM, Shimano and Niner components. The SRAM XX1 line dominates the drivetrain and handles the shifting segment, while the highly rated and recommended Shimano XT M8000 disc brakes handle the slowing and control portion. Suspension is taken care of with a 140mm travel Rockshox Revelation RL fork up front. Other highlights of this build is the Niner alloy cockpit, Race Face Turbine Tubeless compatible wheels, and Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires. The Air 9 Carbon Jenson bike is a clever build that really, anyone can enjoy. Although it's technically not 'Race Day Optimized', this bike is as much at home on an XC race course as it is enjoying the scenery on your weekend route.
